The Shumaker Family at Home
I’ve been photographing this family since their oldest was just six months old and getting to watch them grow over the years has been one of the sweetest parts of this job.
I started photographing this family when Luca was just six months old, which honestly just feels impossible.
Over the years, we’ve met here again and again… in their home, in their neighborhood, in the middle of real life. Watching their family grow, settle into itself, and become what it is now has been one of those quiet gifts this job gives me.
This session felt like all the others in the best way! Kids playing, climbing, laughing, being completely themselves. The kind of chaos that somehow still feels calm even when you’re right in the middle of it.
Somewhere in the midst of it all, we grabbed a few headshots for mom too for her to use for both her role as a therapist and as a photographer!
No big production, no perfect poses, just them, exactly as they are.
There’s something really special about photographing a family over time. You stop trying to “get the perfect photo” and instead just start noticing. The way they are with each other, the little habits, and the personalities that show up more clearly with every year.
And this is everything. This is exactly why I love doing what I do!
